Piney Z East Levee

28 August 2008 - gallery under construction, more photos coming from the archive! Initially decided to throw this gallery together when I realized I had before/after TS Fay photos and video. That, plus I didn't know what I was going to do with the expanding number of shots from "between Cadillac and Alford." You might consider this levee the east end of Lafayette Heritage Trail Park. Just past (north of) the Cadillac Trail's Hill of Death, 2.8M east of Tom Brown Park via the multiuse trail and southwest of Alford Greenway Park. THIS SITE is private property, and doesn't necessarily represent any other individual or organization. You are welcome to download/use my photos for your private enjoyment, including printing them. Any other usage/linking must come from me in writing (email ok), with credit given. Questions, pre-scoldings, comments, ID, complaints? Thanks, John Kalin Email me TallahasseeTrails on YouTube. We'd run an Alford Greenway Park loop, and needed a little "tack-on" distance. Here, as we finish our Cadillac tack-on, Lori and Panzer enjoy the sunset from the Second Levee.

I tricked these guys into adding my 6.75M tack-on to the normal weekly ~15M Higher Ground Bikes Tuesday night ride. After the Alford loop, the boys posed for a East Levee sunset shot.

First of three short videos from the levee as Tropical Storm Fay was a couple days away. At this point, we were just getting breezy conditions, comfortable for August. Note how low the water is.

We're at the south end of the "Second" or East Levee, looking northward. Cadillac Trail's "Hill of Death" is just behind me.
Needless to say, it's obvious that Tropical Storm Faye's runoff has filled Lower Lake Lafayette (r). Piney Z Lake (l) is taking in the excess.

After Tropical Storm Fay.
Near mid-levee, starting out facing northward, rotating clockwise about 270 degrees.

As water flowed east to west from Lower Lake Lafayette (r) to Lake Piney Z (l), fish were attempting to salmon their way upstream into the gator's jaws. Ain't nature great?

This was as far as I felt like going today. I didn't want to make the gator's job too easy.

I follow Fred southward toward Cadillac Trail's Hill of Death through the stormwater flooding the levee.
