23 September Cubanless MagLab Beginner Ride

The Cuban MagLab Higher Ground Beginner Rides: You need not be Cuban, MagLab, Higher Ground, nor Beginner to participate. Show up and ride with us! We're moving these rides to a "base day" of Sunday at 10am over the fall/winter. That may be adjusted on a case by case basis. First SUNDAY ride will meet at I'm ending this "2009 Cuban MagLab Beginner Rides" gallery and have started a new gallery sub-category, "TMBA IMBA-SORBA Beginner Rides." As before, the weekly ride plan will get posted in the most recent gallery, as well as on the tal-rides list and the Tallahassee Mountain Bike forum. There is still the Higher Ground MTB shop Tuesday 6:30pm ride that continues over the fall/winter with lights. Normally a faster paced, YOYO ride. Looking ahead, Thursday, 18 March 2010 (7:47pm sunset) we can enjoy the return of DST. We may move back to Thursday afternoons at that point. 23 September ride report: Yep, we rode on Wednesday, rather than the usual Thursday. Didn't want to miss the 24 September Tallahassee Mountain Bike Association meetup. We met at Forestmeadows, headed across North Meridian into Maclay Gardens State Park (aka Blair Witch singletrack and Lake Overstreet doubletrack trails). The group snaked through the east side of Blair Witch's West Loop, across the X, east side of the East Loop and out the south entrance. East down the Connector, left at the Bermuda Triangle, down and up the Escalator, down to regroup at the Dock. Continued clockwise around Lake Overstreet to the GWTC water fountain. From there, finish clockwise on the ~2.9M Lake Overstreet loop, back up the Connector, and regroup at the top of the Connector. Last segment (we were losing daylight) was back into Blair Witch via the south entrance, then doing the west sides of the East and West Loops and back to Forestmeadows. Got it? I mangle most of the shots, missing some nice opportunities. Notice how the exposure is all over the place. Gotta check some camera CPU contacts. ~9.2Km/5.7M ride track here, with a special bonus. Yep, I failed to turn off the GPS after the ride.
