18 June Cuban MagLab Higher Ground Beginner Ride

The Cuban MagLab Higher Ground Beginner Rides: You need not be Cuban, MagLab, Higher Ground, nor Beginner to participate. Show up and ride with us! All photos from the 18 June ride are now uploaded, including the blurry and out of focus ones. Lookie folks, if I have to carefully craft, peruse and Photoshop each shot, I just ain't gonna do this. Henri Cartier-Bresson I ain't. I'm not even a cyclist. I'm a runner on a bike with a camera in my hand and on my head. Video: I've got a bit over 20 minutes of video remaining to edit, convert, and upload. I'm not Ken Burns, so set your moving images hopes very low. The video quality is so far unacceptable. I'm going to work on alternatives before posting more videos. Yes, I still have the uncompressed video. Wanna help? In the meantime, please slip into something comfortable, sign up at the Classy Tallahassee Bikini Bicyclist Fan Club, and join us getting our smoove on. Many returned from the East Levee to the parking lot via Lafayette Heritage Trail. There was some playtime at Cuban Airlines and the Hill of Death, as well. • No - this is not a GPS track of the 18 June ride. It's a compilation from miscellaneous previous meanderings in the area of our group ride. Particularly during the Alford Greenway Park loop, we managed to get split into subgroups. So I offer this as a sampler of what may be ridden in the area.
On the Cadillac (south) side of the RR tracks, WC=West ("Upper") Cadillac, S/F=start/finish, EC=East ("Lower") Cadillac.
On the Alford (north) side, SCMS=Swift Creek Middle School, CdV=Coupe de Ville singletrack, 1/2/3/4/5/NE/Pt/WE/N=Fields 1/2/3/4/5/northeast/Pterodactyl/westeast/north, SC=shortcut from lowside doubletrack to Field 1. Quiz next Thursday.

  • Nearly 9 minutes of following the gang from near 40C on East Cadillac to the bottom of the Hill of Death.
I know this video quality is very poor. I'm going to work on alternatives before posting more videos.
I posted the identical video at Vimeo here. I don't think it helped. I may post more videos at Vimeo for other reasons. E.g., fewer restrictions.

  • Just a short clip as the crowd begins to assemble. We're at the east end of the parking area, adjacent to the East (Lower) Cadillac trailhead.

  • At a bit after 6pm, the gang is assembling in the Lafayette Heritage Trail Park parking lot. I'm fairly certain we had even more folks this week than last. Upper 20s?

  • This on-site map is at the Lower Cadillac trailhead's new pavilion, adjacent to the parking lot. Just installed is a fancy new water fountain and bike wash. Next up, perhaps a cement pond.

  • Speaking of cement, did you note the fancy concrete work at this new pavilion? Thanks, Chuck Goodheart!

  • I gave a preview of the ride at the map, just to ensure we all started off completely bored.

  • On Cadillac Trail just after the start, between #40C and 41C. Before I bumped the ISO up from 400 to 800, these shots remained blurry. See if you can tell when I switched in this series of shots.
