13 August Cubanless MagLab Higher Ground Beginner Ride
The Cuban MagLab Higher Ground Beginner Rides: You need not be Cuban, MagLab, Higher Ground, nor Beginner to participate. Show up and ride with us!
HEY! If anyone found a small dark grey Fizik underseat bag like this somewhere along our group track, Wednesday would sure be happier if it could be snapped back under her Gobi. It was filled with two 16g CO2 refills, a CO2 valve, a 2oz bottle of Stan's magic latex flat stop goop, a mini Park multi-tool, and a few more repair trinkets. Please email me if you find it. Lunch at Jenny's Lunchbox for the finder. Thanks!

20 AUGUST RIDE PLANS:
It looks to be another Cubanless ride, as Jose's planned yet another Thursday siesta. Ken Foster will be our host and he calls for...
Meet ready to ride by 6:30 at Forestmeadows Tennis & Athletic Center.
We plan to ride most of what's shown on the east side of Meridian Road on this map. Forestmeadows and Red Bug Trail are on the west side of that map. (Note: We aren't planning to ride Red Bug Trail. If we do all of the "Overstreet" stuff and have daylight left, then by all means!)
Bring $2 spare change (definition at 7:21) for legal riding on these Maclay Gardens State Park trails.
I WILL be at Forestmeadows, rain or shine.
13 August notes: Rain till just before the ride must have scared off the big crowd from last week. We still managed 14 folks (counting Rocket Don). Several new participants - always a positive development.
Ride track is here, map up second in the gallery below.
We met at the Tom Brown Park BMX Track aka the Magnolia Trail trailhead. Mike Hernandez agreed to lead with Ken Foster again doing MVP duty corralling the back.
Mike started the group into Magnolia "backward" from #79 to 68 (see video), then out to the Goose Pond water stop. Next, eastward across the Conner Creek Bridge leaving Tom Brown Park. Up Lafayette Heritage Trail from #1 to 23 and onto Loblolly Trail. Loblolly #12 to 1 where it intersects with West Cadillac Trail adjacent to #33C. Exit Cadillac at #34C and just eastward to the Piney Z aka the Lafayette Heritage Trail Park parking lot. The gang split up here, leaving our main group with Katie Fox and 7 mutts. Mike led us into East (Lower) Cadillac from #36 to 56, then down to the East Levee aka the base of the Hill of Death. We took a break for alligator viewing on the East Levee. Katie demanded we return to Piney Z on Cadillac's lowside benchcut #57-79, rather than on the Lafayette Heritage doubletrack. Horsing around in the parking lot, then up Loblolly to #9. Right turn down to Chuck's East Overlook and into West Cadillac at #24C. 24C to 1C and back across Conner Creek, up the hill and home!
