11 June Cuban MagLab Higher Ground Beginner Ride

The Cuban MagLab Higher Ground Beginner Rides: You need not be Cuban, MagLab, Higher Ground, nor Beginner to participate. Show up and ride with us! The 11 June edition found 20+ participants at Higher Ground Bikes' mountainbike shop ready to roll. We rode Fern Trail, the north section of East Fern's Bog Loop, the Fern/Tom Brown Park Connector, a bit of Magnolia Trail, Cadillac Trail, and Lafayette Heritage Trail. We even ran into a Wrecking Ball while we were out. Turnaround point was the Lafayette Heritage Trail Park parking lot. Total distance was ~21Km/13M, GPS track here. NEXT RIDE? (THIS INFO IS NOW CONFIRMED) The 18 June (Thursday) edition is scheduled to begin at the Lafayette Heritage Trail Park parking lot, 6pm. We can explore farther east on Lower Cadillac Trail, across the East Levee to Alford Greenway Park, then tack on sections of Upper Cadillac Trail and Loblolly Trail. See map below (photo 2). • A suggestion for the next ride (18 June).
Start at Lafayette Heritage Trail Park (where we turned around last week). Head out Lower Cadillac, perhaps play at Cuban Air Lines and Hill of Death, cross East Levee toward Alford. Cross RR tracks, ride Coupe de Ville (singletrack section of Alford) to Field 3, continue anticlockwise around the ~900 acre park's perimeter. Oval at top is Observation Circle neighborhood - not actually part of the park. Finish Alford loop, back across the tracks, ride section of Lower Cadillac we didn't do on the way out. Regroup at the parking lot where we started. At this point, we will have done almost 10M. Those wanting more may head toward Tom Brown Park on Loblolly, Upper Cadillac, and/or Lafayette Heritage Trail.
